The artificial lung ventilation apparatus was donated by the Peace Fund to the regional specialized Children's Home
As explained by Elena Mizerkina, the chief physician of the regional specialized Children's Hospital, a similar device is currently operating in the palliative care ward, where it is supporting the life of one infant. The donated device will also be installed there. Two more children in Vitebsk and Glubokoye are on artificial lung ventilation at home after their parents received appropriate training. Although hospitals in the region are one hundred percent equipped with ventilators for such children, considering the prospects for the development of home care, where the child is with the family, there is a need for this equipment.
Currently, the Children's Hospital provides treatment and rehabilitation for 14 children with disabilities under the age of seven, 12 of whom are critically ill and are under palliative observation by specialists. These are mainly children with severe central nervous system disorders and congenital pathologies.
In the future, it is planned to establish a regional palliative care center at the institution. Moreover, the necessary experience, qualified personnel, and material and technical base for this are available.

Summing up the results of the "High Five for Kindness!" campaign, Andrey Balabin, Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian Peace Foundation and a well-known businessman, reported that over 500,000 rubles have been raised in three years, and with this amount, assistance has been provided to all Children's Hospitals in Belarus. The Vitebsk facility is being helped for the first time; previously, various medical rehabilitation aids and a modern outdoor playground complex for children with developmental disabilities were purchased.
– If we want to live better, we should not shift everything onto the shoulders of the state. Public organizations, businesses should get involved, especially in those areas of life where common help is needed. And this event is an example of such social responsibility and consolidation. The initiative is also good because ordinary citizens, who also want to contribute to helping children, supported it. Therefore, we plan to continue the event, – said the Chairman of the Belarusian Peace Foundation, Maxim Misko.
By the way, this is the fourth time the project organizers have come to Vitebsk, which is also not accidental – the regional branch of the Belarusian Peace Foundation is one of the best in the republic.
