On the household plot of a resident of one of the villages in the Postavy district, employees of the military counterintelligence department of the KGB discovered eight YakB-12.7 aircraft machine guns and two GSH 2/30 aircraft cannons, which are armament for Mi-24 and Mi-24P combat helicopters.
The resident of the village of Rodi explained that he found the weapons near a former military airfield, which was home to a helicopter military unit that was withdrawn to Russia in the early 1990s.
As it turned out, the man knew that the items he found were weapons, but he was in no hurry to report his find to law enforcement agencies.
A legal assessment of the citizen's actions will be given after an examination. If specialists determine that the weapons are suitable for firing, the unlucky seeker will face criminal liability.
