The Association of Local Councils of Deputies has been established in the Vitebsk region

An Association of Local Councils of Deputies has been established in the Vitebsk region. This was announced at the tenth session of the regional Council of Deputies.

According to Vladimir Davydovsky, Head of the Main Department for Organizational and Personnel Work of the Regional Executive Committee, the initiative to create the association belongs to the Council of the Republic.

"The creation of the association is necessary to ensure the coordination of the activities of local Councils of Deputies in developing the legal, organizational, financial, economic, and territorial foundations of local self-government, and to organize their interaction in solving social, economic, and other problems related to the exercise of local self-government in the Vitebsk region," noted Vladimir Davydovsky. "Local Councils of Deputies of the region at all levels can be members of the association. The supreme body of the association is the meeting of representatives from the association members. The standing collegial governing body is the association's board. The chairman of the board will manage the work of the board, represent the interests of the association, and resolve other issues related to the current activities."

The property of the association will be formed through membership and other targeted contributions from the association members, and other sources not prohibited by law. The creation of associations of local Councils of Deputies in the regions is a promising area of activity for the development of local self-government. Similar associations exist in the Grodno and Mogilev regions.
