Авиация МЧС провела уникальную операцию по доставке памятника Бородулину в Ушачском районе

The Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) aviation of Belarus carried out a unique operation to deliver a monument to the grave of the national poet of Belarus Ryhor Baradulin in the Ushachi district of the Vitebsk region, the MES press service reported.

"It was possible to deliver the huge boulder weighing 2.5 tons to Ryhor Baradulin's grave, located in the middle of the cemetery, only by air," the press service explained. MES aviators faced such a complex task for the first time. About 10 specialists were involved in the operation, most of whom were on the ground and assisted the crew, as tall trees almost completely blocked the view.

The MES added that the department's employees also helped to create a foundation for the monument. "More than 800 buckets of cement were manually transported," the ministry said. Ryhor Baradulin (Grigory Ivanovich) was born on February 24, 1935, into a peasant family in the village of Veryasovka, Ushachi district, Vitebsk region. He studied at the Ushachi Secondary School and graduated from the Philological Faculty of Belarusian State University. The author of many books of lyrics, satire, and collections for children, he often turned to the genre of prayer. For the poem "Ballad of the Brest Fortress," he was awarded the Lenin Komsomol Prize of Belarus (1976), and for the collection "Rum" and the book of translations of F. Garcia Lorca's lyrics "Blue Bell of Granada" - the State Prize of Belarus named after Y. Kupala (1976). The poet died on March 2, 2014, at the age of 79.
