Roads from Minsk to regional centers are planned to be expanded to four lanes

August 5, Minsk / Milena Anufrienok - BELTA /. Belarus plans to expand to four lanes the highways leading from Minsk to the regional centers. This was announced by Vladimir Mardilovich, Head of the Road Network Development Department of Belavtodor, today at a press conference, as reported by a BELTA correspondent. The Belavtodor representative noted that funds are currently being directed to road works on several main routes: Minsk-Mogilev, Minsk-Gomel, Minsk-Grodno, and Minsk-Vitebsk. It is planned to expand these roads to four lanes. "Today we are working on the Minsk-Mogilev route in two directions: from the Mogilev side, we are moving towards Belynichi, and from the Minsk side, we are already approaching Berezino. Next year, the construction of a large bridge across the Berezina River is planned," said Vladimir Mardilovich. "As for the Gomel direction, so far, work is only being carried out here in the direction of Bobruisk. We plan to attract investments to complete these road sections by 2014," he added. On the Minsk-Grodno highway, it is planned to create four-lane traffic from the regional center to Shchuchin. Separate sections of the road will also be expanded along the Minsk-Vitebsk route. -0-
