Basic traffic safety towns will appear in every district of the Vitebsk region in the new academic year
"We have traffic safety education grounds in practically every school – 364 in total. However, they do not always meet the requirements of the traffic police. Some structures are removable, some lack traffic lights, proper road markings, traffic signs with retroreflectors, and the like. Nevertheless, educational institutions have been designated in each district to equip a basic stationary traffic safety town by September 1, which will be visited by children from all over the district. This task has been completed almost everywhere, but the created grounds still need to be improved. And this seminar will help us," explained Vladimir Vasiliev.
The training and methodological meeting is held with the aim of preventing child road traffic injuries with the participation of all interested parties: deputy chairmen of city and district executive committees, heads of departments of education, sports and tourism, territorial traffic police departments, and persons responsible for the operation of school buses.
"This year, we already have three fatal cases – in Liozno, Polotsk, and Chashniksky districts. Unfortunately, this cannot be changed, but all efforts must be made to prevent this number from growing. When visiting educational institutions and conducting classes with children, we assess their knowledge and skills. The situation is not always very encouraging. Therefore, for the seminar participants, visual platforms have been organized to demonstrate equipment and the operation of the traffic safety town, as well as to organize training sessions on bicycle maneuvering and working with life-size puppets in kindergartens," noted Alexander Kazyuchits, head of the agitation and propaganda department of the traffic police of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the regional executive committee.
The traffic safety town at Secondary School No. 46 is one of the best in the region. The school was conceived during its construction as a basic platform for teaching children from the entire Pervomaisky district about safe behavior on the road.
Soon, with the financial support of UNICEF, a similar facility will appear at Gymnasium No. 3 in the Oktyabrsky district of Vitebsk."Recently, experts from this children's fund visited the institution, inspected the site (by the way, a platform has already been asphalted there), and conducted an examination. It is expected that about $7,000 will be allocated for the arrangement of the autotown," added Vladimir Vasiliev. In addition to interactive platforms, seminar participants were shown how to provide first aid on the road using improvised means, and were told about the sequence of actions for dispatching a school bus on a route.
