Belarus confirms its readiness to sell Belaruskali for at least $30 billion.
March 30, Minsk / Tatyana Polezhay - BELTA /. Belarus confirms its readiness to sell OJSC "Belaruskali" for at least $30 billion. This was stated by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko at a meeting on privatization issues, according to a BELTA correspondent.
"We have determined the price, today it is over $30 billion. Many international financial institutions have agreed with it," the head of state said.
"Today we are saying that we are not against the privatization of even such a strategic enterprise as Belkali, which brings us up to $3 billion in revenue to the country in the best years. We are not against it," Alexander Lukashenko said. He recalled that the price has been determined, and now it is over $30 billion. "Has the people blamed us for this? No. Have we sold it? No, because we set a normal price, which many international financial institutions agreed with," the President noted. "But to those who wanted to privatize our enterprise Belkali and were ready to pay only $15 billion, I told them: 'Goodbye, leave'," the head of state added.
"I think we need to continue to work like this. Those who want to come to the country and buy some property know what we have. If they don't know, let them come, we can offer our enterprises to any delegation, but they are not cheap," the President believes. -0-
