Belarusian Maksim Nedasekau won Olympic bronze in high jump

Belarusian Maksim Nedasekau became a bronze medalist of the Olympics in the high jump competition. This is the second medal for Belarusian athletes at the Games in the Japanese capital.

The Belarusian athlete showed a result of 2 m 37 cm. Italian Gianmarco Tamberi and Mutaz Essa Barshim from Qatar also stopped at the same height. As a result, they both won Olympic gold medals, surpassing the Belarusian in the number of attempts.

Maksim Nedasekau began his performance with a failed attempt at a height of 2 m 19 cm, but successfully overcame this barrier on the second try. However, he cleared the bars at heights of 2 m 24 cm, 2 m 27 cm, 2 m 30 cm, and 2 m 33 cm on his first attempt. The next "miss" occurred at 2 m 35 cm, after which the 23-year-old Belarusian moved his attempt to 2 m 37 cm and cleared it immediately, equaling the national record. Then there were three failures at 2 m 39 cm, resulting in third place.

The first award in Tokyo for Belarusians was brought yesterday by Ivan Litvinovich, who became the Olympic champion in trampoline gymnastics.
