Belarusian students won the main awards of the rally of young ecologists of Belarus and Russia

July 29, Vitebsk /Olga Bogacheva - BELTA/. Belarusian students won the main awards of the III Meeting of Young Ecologists of Belarus and Russia "Ecology Without Borders", held at the Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve (Lepel District). This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the chairman of the jury, Deputy Director of the Reserve for Scientific Research Valery Ivkovich. The award ceremony for the winners and the closing of the meeting took place today. Anna Domantsevich, a student of the Gomel State Regional Lyceum, was awarded a first-degree diploma of the Standing Committee of the Union State. Daria Nikitchenko, a student of Secondary School No. 10 in Minsk, received a second-degree diploma, and Sergey Yaroshevich (Lyceum of Belarusian State University) received a third-degree diploma. The jury members also recognized the best young researchers in the sections of ornithology, entomology, soil science, geobotany, and hydrobiology. Here, first-degree diplomas were won by Roman Prudnikov (Mogilev Region), Artem Drogalov (Grodno Region), Sergey Kostin (Kostroma Region, Russia), Vika Antropova (Republic of Mari El, Russia), and Vadim Gatsura (Brest Region), respectively. "It took the jury five hours to determine the winners. The participants of the meeting demonstrated a high level of knowledge, significantly exceeding the school curriculum, and a deep interest in the topic of ecology," noted Valery Ivkovich. He emphasized that this year, the entire podium was occupied by representatives of Belarus. "Most likely, the spirit of competition played a role, as during the previous two meetings, Russian students won the main awards," believes the chairman of the jury. The Meeting of Young Ecologists of Belarus and Russia "Ecology Without Borders" was held from July 22. It was attended by 70 students (35 from each country) aged 14-18. These are the winners of federal and republican biology and ecology competitions, olympiads, and meetings. For a week, the teenagers studied the inhabitants and ecosystems of the reserve, participated in various cultural and sports events, and visited the sights of Polotsk and Borisov. The meeting is held under the auspices of the Union State by the Ministry of Education of Belarus and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation with the aim of developing the interest of Belarusian and Russian schoolchildren in biology and ecology, and their practical participation in nature conservation. The meeting was first held in 2006 at the Narochansky National Park and has been held every other year since then, alternating between Belarus and Russia. -0-
