Belarusian scientists make a significant contribution to the development of interaction between scientific schools of the CIS countries - expert
September 28, Vitebsk / Sergei Kochetov - BELTA /. Belarusian scientists are making a significant contribution to the development of interaction between the scientific schools of the CIS countries. This opinion was expressed in a conversation with a BELTA correspondent by Vladimir Betekhtin, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor at the Ioffe Institute of Physics and Technology (St. Petersburg), and Chairman of the Interstate Coordination Council for Physics of Strength and Plasticity of Materials. He is taking part in the 50th international scientific symposium "Actual Problems of Strength," which opened today at the Vitebsk State Technological University.
According to the scientist, the development of science as a whole is impossible without the communication of scientists and the interaction of those scientific schools that have been developing for decades. The main task of the symposium is to maintain ties, develop a unified information space between scientific institutions, coordinate the activities of scientific and educational institutions and industrial enterprises, and formulate the most relevant tasks in the field of strength and plasticity of materials. Vitebsk was chosen as the venue for the anniversary conference in recognition and respect for the merits of Belarusian scientists.
"Getting acquainted with the latest achievements in the field of strength and plasticity of materials, a lively exchange of views, and information about the work done by colleagues stimulates the participants' own research," said Vladimir Betekhtin. At one time, it was precisely based on the results of conferences that research into materials with a shape memory effect, which are in demand in various fields today, received development. A serious school in the field of materials science and new materials has been established in Vitebsk, and scientists, including young specialists, are working there, which means traditions are being preserved, and this is very important, he added. In total, over the 30-year history of the forum, 25 cities in Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine have hosted it, so the scientific forum has made a huge contribution to the development of materials science in the regions.
The symposium, which will last for four days, is attended by over 150 scientists and specialists from research centers, scientific and educational institutions of Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia, and China. The results of theoretical and experimental research in the field of physics and mechanics of strength are discussed, which make it possible to predict the most complex properties of materials, create nanomaterials with improved structure, and new surface coatings with high functional properties. The forum will be a platform for presenting the latest developments and innovative technologies for obtaining and processing materials.
The organizers of the scientific forum are the Institute of Technical Acoustics of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Vitebsk State Technological University, with the assistance of the Interstate Coordination Council for Physics of Strength and Plasticity of Materials, the Ministry of Education, the National Academy of Sciences, the State Committee on Science and Technology of Belarus, the Scientific Council of the Russian Academy of Sciences on Physics of Condensed Matter, and the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.
The symposium "Actual Problems of Strength" was organized in 1980 by representatives of Leningrad scientific schools working in the field of physics and mechanics of strength. Today, it is one of the most prestigious and continuously operating scientific forums in the post-Soviet space. The main task of the symposium is to unite scientists from various fields of physics and mechanics to develop a scientific ideology for the development and formation of various theories of strength science, and to produce knowledge in the field of strength and plasticity of materials, which ultimately creates the basis for the development of innovative technologies for a wide range of industries. The event is held at least once a year in cities of Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine. -0-
