The Belarusian section of the international watercolor biennale "Water + Paint" will be presented in Novgorod for the first time

Белорусский раздел международной биеннале акварели "Вада + Фарба" впервые будет представлен в Новгороде

The Belarusian section of the international watercolor biennale "Vada + Farba" will be presented for the first time at the Novgorod State Joint Museum-Reserve, as reported to a BELTA correspondent by Larisa Lysenko, head of the "Art Gallery" branch of the National Polotsk Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve.

Creative cooperation between the two museum-reserves began last year and is actively developing. In the current exhibition season, the Art Gallery in Polotsk is planning an exhibition of 19th-century Russian portraits and drawings by the famous landscape painter Ivan Shishkin. The Novgorod museum staff, in turn, became interested in the international watercolor biennale "Vada + Farba," which will be held in Polotsk for the fourth time and, based on the experience of previous exhibitions, will undoubtedly attract many talented watercolorists from near and far abroad. The Belarusian part of the biennale will be presented in Novgorod during September-October.

In Polotsk, the biennale will open on June 1 and run until August 4, after which the works will be presented at the Palace of Arts in Minsk. According to Larisa Lysenko, artists' creative unions have already begun selecting works. In addition to viewing the works, the biennale will traditionally host the symposium-conference "Watercolor as a Reflection of Modernity," where artists and art critics will discuss current issues in contemporary watercolor painting and familiarize themselves with the development trends of national watercolor schools.
