The Belarusian Puppet Theater "Lyalka" opens the season with a fairy tale for children and "The Decameron" for adults
September 22, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. The Belarusian Puppet Theatre "Lyalka" in Vitebsk will open its 25th season on October 3 with a fairy tale for children and "The Decameron" for adults, the theatre informed a BELTA correspondent.
In the morning, young theatregoers of the city are invited to the familiar fairy tale "Once Upon a Time There Was a Hare". In honor of the season opening, a colorful celebration and concert with the participation of the theatre's actors will be held for them before the performance. In the evening of the same day, adult spectators will become guests of "Lyalka", and they will be offered Giovanni Boccaccio's famous "The Decameron". The premiere of this production took place in July, but it will be presented to the general public only in this season. A formal ceremony will precede the evening performance, just as it will for the children. However, this time the main characters of the ceremony will be the actors of "Lyalka" themselves: the best among them will be awarded in the nominations for Best Male and Female Role, as well as "Debut of the Season".
In general, the 25th season will be full of events. Thus, on October 20, the theatre will host the "Ball in Honor of Oginski". In November, the troupe of "Lyalka" will go on tour to Poland at the invitation of the Olsztyn Puppet Theatre with the performance "Once Upon a Time There Was a Hare", and in December - to Bucharest (Romania) to participate in the International Festival of Puppet Theatres.
In 2011, the actors of "Lyalka" plan to present two premieres: in February, young spectators will see the production "The Princess and the Swineherd" based on the fairy tale by H.C. Andersen, and in July, the graduation performance "Honest Giant" will be presented by Irina Bogdanova, a graduate of the Belarusian Academy of Arts. In addition, various contests will be held for children throughout the season. -0-
