The Belarusian-Latvian tour project "Bella Dvina" was successfully presented in the "Pamina" Euroregion
June 23, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. The cross-border tourist zones of Belarusian-Latvian "Bella Dvina" and German-French "Rhine-Pamina Park" have established partnerships and intend to share their work experience, Deputy Chairman of the Polotsk City Executive Committee Nikolai Ilyushenok told BELTA correspondent.
The agreement was reached during a training visit of Belarusian and Latvian participants of the project "Bella Dvina - Traveling Across Borders, Discovering Culture, Enjoying Nature of the Western Dvina/Daugava Region" ("Bella Dvina") to the German-French Euroregion "Pamina", which includes South Palatinate, Middle Upper Rhine (Germany) and North Alsace (France). The Belarusian-Latvian delegation familiarized themselves with the work of tourist information centers and inspected tourist infrastructure facilities. According to Nikolai Ilyushenok, the experience of developing family cycling tourism, which is financially inexpensive but very popular, deserves attention.
At the meeting, German and French experts offered practical recommendations for the marketing promotion of the "Bella Dvina" product at the local and international levels. For foreign partners, representatives of the "Bella Dvina" project organized a successful presentation not only of their initiative but also of the Vitebsk region, and also presented the tourism development strategy for the Polotsk, Vitebsk, and Braslav tourist zones. The management of "Rhine-Pamina Park" was interested in the experience of the National Polotsk Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve. They intend to familiarize themselves with its activities and the cross-border zone "Bella Dvina" in the autumn, during a return visit.
The main goal of the "Bella Dvina - Traveling Across Borders" project is to create a cross-border tourist space along the Western Dvina-Daugava between Daugavpils, Polotsk, and Vitebsk. In addition to the cities, the project includes Verkhnedvinsk, Rossonsky, Beshenkovichsky, Miorsky, Sharkovshchinsky, Polotsky, Vitebsk districts, and 6 districts of Latvia. The implementation of the program is designed for 2 years.
Co-financing of the project is carried out with the support of the European Commission within the framework of the "Baltic Sea Region - INTERREG III B - Neighbourhood Programme - INTERREG III A - Latvia-Lithuania-Belarus Priority (South)". Funds will be allocated for the development of the tourism industry in the neighboring regions of Belarus and Latvia, the creation of modern infrastructure, and the purchase of equipment for tourists. -0-
