The Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve has developed an exclusive wild bear watching tour

In the Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve, a special bear-watching tour in their natural habitat has been developed. This is reported by the website of the environmental institution.

It is extremely rare to see the most dangerous predator of our forests in the wild. This red-listed animal inhabits remote and inaccessible places. It is extremely cautious, has sharp hearing and an extraordinary sense of smell. About a third of the entire Belarusian brown bear population lives in the reserve - approximately 70 individuals. "Our visitors have a unique opportunity. All necessary conditions have been created for observing and photographing these animals in the Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve: thematic excursions and tours, specially equipped observation towers and shelters, experienced guides," said the environmental institution.

Despite the fact that the brown bear belongs to the order Carnivora, the basis of its diet is still plant food. These include berries, fruits, nuts, tubers, and grass stems. In the absence of a rich harvest of wild berries, the animal visits oat fields. In the former village of Postrezhye, located in the heart of the Berezinsky Reserve and given over to nature for over 35 years, abandoned fields remain. Small plots on former arable land have been designated as feeding fields and are sown with oats annually. This is a favorite place for wild animals, including brown bears, to visit. They visit this area annually, showing the greatest activity in the early morning and evening. The first two tourists (father and son), who arrived on July 21, were able to see the bear guest. "A young male bear came out to the oat field before 9:00 PM. Paying almost no attention to its observers, it calmly fed, and sometimes even stood on its hind legs to survey the surroundings, listen to something, and sniff the air," the reserve reported.

The exclusive "Bear's Corner" tour will be held until the end of August. The program is designed for two days. The excursion itself starts at 5:30 PM and can last until midnight, depending on the bear's appearance in the oat field, its satiety, and its desire to return to the forest. The tour will cost from Br122 for one person and from Br132 for two. The price includes accommodation at the hotel and meals. You can sign up for the tour by calling: 8 (02132) 3-77-13, 8 (02132) 3-77-18, and 8 (033) 378-03-23.
