Free condoms will be distributed to HIV-positive people in five Belarusian cities

August 20, Minsk /BELTA/. Free condoms will be distributed to HIV-infected people in five Belarusian cities, Tatiana Zharnosek, a public relations specialist at the Belarusian public association "Positive Movement," told a BELTA correspondent. This service from "Positive Movement" will be available to HIV-positive people in Gomel, Vitebsk, Pinsk, Svetlogorsk, and Minsk starting August 27, 2012. "Correct condom use effectively protects a partner from HIV and sexually transmitted infections (STIs)," said Tatiana Zharnosek. "Condom use is also necessary for couples where both partners live with HIV, as it prevents infection with other strains of HIV." To obtain protective means, one should contact any social support center. People living with HIV can regularly receive condoms here without providing personal data. The service is implemented by the Belarusian public association "Positive Movement" with the support of a grant from the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GF) "Ensuring universal access for key affected populations in Belarus to HIV prevention, treatment and care." -0-
