Shamelessly gaining popularity on the honest name of Belarusian partisans - participants of the Great Patriotic War

March 31, Vitebsk /BelTA correspondent/. It is shameless to gain popularity by exploiting the honorable name of Belarusian partisans. This was stated to a BelTA correspondent by Great Patriotic War veteran Ivan Podvorny, expressing his opinion on the content and name of the "Belarusian Partisan" website. The former teacher learned about the website from his daughter and initially couldn't believe that something like this could appear on the Internet. "Truth must be written, and it is unacceptable to tarnish the country and its history," Ivan Kirillovich said with partisan directness. In 1943-1944, Ivan Podvorny was a partisan in the Ponomarenko Brigade of the Polotsk-Lepel partisan zone. From 1944, he fought on the 1st Ukrainian Front in the 13th Motor Rifle Division of the 5th Guards Army. He was awarded the Order of the Red Star and the Medal for Military Merit. As Chairman of the Ushachi District Council of Veterans Vladimir Molodkovets said, veterans of partisan Ushachshchyna believe that a website named "Belarusian Partisan" should tell young people about the heroic history of the country, about the people's struggle against the Nazi invaders, and preserve the memories of those who fought. On behalf of the veterans of the Ushachi district, Vladimir Molodkovets sent a letter to the Vitebsk Regional Council of the Public Association of Veterans, in which he expressed solidarity with the position of the veterans of the Minsk Regional Organization of Veterans and indignation at the use of the phrase "Belarusian partisan" in the name of a non-state electronic media outlet. "The youth of Ushachshchyna are raised on examples of courage and feats of partisans who, during the occupation and combat operations, defended their Motherland at the cost of their own lives. The word 'partisan' holds the highest patriotic meaning for everyone and is associated with the words 'courage,' 'feat,' 'honor,' 'valor.' We are categorically against the substitution of concepts, as this is as unacceptable as attempts to rewrite history, to re-evaluate the feats of Soviet soldiers, Belarusian partisans, and underground fighters," the letter from the veterans of the Ushachi district states. -0-
