The safety of pedestrian crossings near schools was the focus of Vitebsk residents on the hotline

School crossing safety concerns were the focus for Vitebsk residents during a hotline session, reported Elena Bogdanovich, First Deputy Head of the Education Department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.

A hotline addressing topics of concern for parents was held today by the leadership of the regional education department. Over three hours of operation, approximately 10 calls were received, the majority of which concerned the safety of pedestrian crossings located near schools. In particular, one resident of the regional center highlighted this issue for Secondary School No. 18.

"We will carefully study this issue and resolve it jointly with the traffic police department of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee and the district administration," promised Elena Bogdanovich. Questions were also raised regarding teacher certification and the legality of third-grade students attending second shift classes. Regarding the latter, the representative of the regional executive committee recalled that according to sanitary rules and norms, students from third to eighth grade can attend second shift classes (except for fifth grade). "Overall, no critical issues were raised during the direct line. People primarily needed competent explanations," noted Elena Bogdanovich.

Currently, the acceptance of educational institutions for the new academic year is being completed in the Vitebsk region. As of August 18, all educational institutions in the region have received readiness certificates, with the exception of three facilities in Dubrovno, whose final deadline has been extended to the end of August. Br22.3 million in budget funds were allocated for the preparation of educational institutions for the new season. Serious attention was paid to the implementation of fire safety measures. More than Br422 thousand were allocated for these purposes.
