BSAA will train agronomists at the college of the Vitebsk Academy of Veterinary Medicine
February 15, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. The Belarusian State Agricultural Academy (BSAA, Gorki, Mogilev region) is opening a branch based on the agricultural college of the Vitebsk State Academy of Veterinary Medicine in Luzhesno (Vitebsk region). The decision was made by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, Ivan Shchurok, head of the department, informed at the meeting of the education department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, according to a BELTA correspondent.
From the 2011-2012 academic year, BSAA will train agronomists in the Vitebsk region based on secondary vocational education with a reduced training period. The form of training for specialists has been chosen as part-time. It is planned to admit about 50 people.
The need to open a branch of the agricultural academy in Luzhesno is due to the shortage of personnel in the agro-industrial complex of the Vitebsk region. The intensification of agricultural production, technical and technological re-equipment, and the transition to science-intensive, resource-saving technologies impose increased demands on the personnel. According to the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's committee for agriculture and food, farms need 26 agronomists, including 14 chief agronomists. In general, only 83% of farm managers in the region have higher education. -0-
