Library nights and street reading. This is how locals in Verkhnedvinsk are introduced to books

In Verkhnedvinsk, mothers and their babies are invited to read books right in the city recreation area, where the children's library visits weekly.

The "With a Book on a Bench" project was first tried last summer, and this year it was decided to return to it, as it generated interest among residents. Now, every Wednesday throughout the summer season, employees of the children's library of the Verkhnedvinsk Central Library System are near the "Korablik" playground with books and magazines. Those who wish can take any copy and read it in the fresh air, sitting on a bench. In addition, the book keepers organize contests and raffles, giving the little ones walking there with their mothers a real holiday.

The local library often uses such non-standard forms of work to attract readers quite successfully. For example, not so long ago, "Biblionight" was organized and held for the first time, during which the usual "Silence must be in the library" was replaced by the sounds of rock music, poetry recitations, and exclamations from those who completed a quest on the history of the city. Here, guests were treated to dishes from fairy tales: axe porridge, living water, Little Red Riding Hood's pies, you could take a selfie with the largest and smallest book, participate in a speed reading contest, and much more.

– We ourselves did not expect so many people to come, the city residents showed unprecedented interest in the event, there were even those who crossed the threshold of the library for the first time on that day, and this is important for us, – noted Lyudmila Kuvshinova, director of the Verkhnedvinsk CBS. – Our task is to attract readers, to instill a love of reading in children and youth, so we try to constantly come up with something new, without which it is impossible today.
