Novopolotsk libraries continue the project "Read with me in Belarusian" in 2018

The new season of the "Read with Me in Belarusian" project starts in Novopolotsk, the cultural capital of Belarus, this week, the Novopolotsk City Executive Committee reported.

On January 11, young employees of Novopolotsk libraries will go to the children's polyclinic to organize readings. "Winter Sketches" will be held in a fun, game-based format. Young patients and their parents, while waiting for their doctor's appointment, will be able to participate in games, contests, and master classes. But most importantly, children and adults will read poems by Belarusian poets together.

The "Read with Me in Belarusian" project, aimed at encouraging children to read and revealing the beauty of the Belarusian language to them, has become an integral part of the Novopolotsk Centralized Library System's work. In 2018, it kicks off a series of events for the republican campaign "Novopolotsk - Cultural Capital of Belarus" in the city's libraries. The republican campaign "Cultural Capital of Belarus" is being held for the ninth time. This year, Novopolotsk (the city celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2018) has become the cultural capital of the country, taking over the baton from Babruisk. The status of cultural capital was previously awarded to Polotsk (2010), Gomel (2011), Nesvizh (2012), Mogilev (2013), Grodno (2014), Brest (2015), Molodechno (2016).
