A bust of Marc Chagall was unveiled in Liozno
The bust is located on the territory of the Liozno Military History Museum, near the site where the house of the famous artist's relatives was located. The idea for its creation and implementation belongs to sculptors Alexander Gvozdikov and Azat Torosyan. Previously, there were no monuments in the area highlighting Marc Chagall's connection with the Liozno region.
Representatives of local authorities, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Israel Iosif Chagall, and residents of Liozno will take part in the bust's opening ceremony. During the event, poems about the world-renowned master and interesting biographical facts related to Liozno will be recited.
Marc Chagall (1887-1985), one of the most famous representatives of the artistic avant-garde of the 20th century, was born in Vitebsk. His small homeland is Liozno. The family estate was located here, and numerous relatives lived here. This place is associated with the happy childhood memories of the future artist, which were later reflected in his works and his autobiographical book "My Life". At the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, Marc Chagall's relatives, along with other Jewish residents of Liozno, were shot by the Nazi invaders.
