Pancake race with frying pans held in Polotsk for Maslenitsa

With fun contests and entertainment, Maslenitsa was celebrated in Polotsk on February 29.

The main venue for the celebration was Freedom Square. The rich program included a theatrical performance, performances by the best ensembles of Polotsk and the district, various attractions, as well as contests for children and adults.

The strongest and most agile competed in conquering the "Prize Pole".

The most massive event was the first-ever pancake race with frying pans. Anyone, regardless of age, could take part in the fun race.

A contest for the best Maslenitsa doll, "Maslenitsa Beauty," was also held. Figures symbolizing the arrival of spring, at least 1.5 meters high, decorated the main celebration venue. The creators of the most impressive dolls were awarded diplomas and gifts by the jury.

A pleasant variety to the general festive atmosphere was added by the handicraft fair, which brought together artisans not only from Polotsk region but also from other nearby districts of the oblast.

The trade stalls with hot tea and blini added warmth and coziness.
