Battles of wits
The open cup of the Vitebsk regional committee of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union (BRSM) for intellectual games 2012-2013 has started. Who will make it to the "top league" of erudites?
In general, the competition involves six rounds, the first of which took place at the Vitebsk branch of the Higher State College of Communications. 17 teams, mainly consisting of pupils, students, and working youth from the regional center, entered the intellectual battles. Polotsk residents also joined the Vitebsk residents – PSU presented two teams. All participants had to compete in the "What? Where? When?" championship and in the team version of "Own Game."
As a result, it turned out that the working youth from the "Standart" team, which won the competition, knew the answers to all the questions. The "Neo" team took second place, and the students of VGMU – "Komaril'ya" – came in third. By the way, the first round of the student championship also took place within the BRSM cup, in which the aforementioned team of future doctors became the winners.
But the mind games are not over yet. Until April of next year, the remaining rounds of the Cup will be played, the next one is scheduled for December 1. The organizers of the marathon – the Department of Education and the Department for Youth Affairs of the regional executive committee, the regional committee of the BRSM, and the intellectual club "Vitebsk" – believe that this will help to further support youth initiatives and instill in the younger generation a desire for knowledge.
