More than 10 delegations from twin cities arrived to congratulate Novopolotsk on its City Day

Более 10 делегаций городов-побратимов приехали поздравить Новополоцк с Днем города
Novopolotsk celebrated its 59th birthday. More than 10 delegations from twin cities came to congratulate it on this date, as reported by the Novopolotsk City Executive Committee.

Events dedicated to City Day started on June 6, but the main festivities gathered guests from Russia, Ukraine, Latvia, Poland, and Serbia (where the oil city has twin cities), as well as friends from different parts of Belarus on June 10. Among them were not only officials but also creative groups, artists of the open-air dance festival on Builders' Square, and, of course, professional athletes, who were attracted to Novopolotsk by two major sporting events.

"Our city was honored to host the first open republican weightlifting tournament in memory of S. Lagun, which is expected to be attended by several Olympic champions. Also, on the open water – Lyukhovo Lake – the traditional international water skiing tournament in memory of N. Genov is already underway," the City Executive Committee noted.

The celebrations began on June 10 with a festive procession and a rally at the historical and memorial complex "First Tent." On L. Novozhilov Boulevard and Kirova Street, the "City of Masters" was operating during these days, and an open city competition for the best decorated master's site was held. The city park was adorned with a unique exhibition by teachers and students of Novopolotsk children's art schools, some of whom even conducted master classes in fine arts. The "Children's Town" in the park near Children's Art School No. 1 delighted toddlers and older children with a variety of entertainment.

The city park of culture and recreation was also crowded these days, which is not surprising: attractions, trampolines, playgrounds, festive trade, a medieval culture site - everything was there to celebrate City Day with family or friends.
