Over 100 homeless people screened for tuberculosis in two days in Vitebsk

March 26, Vitebsk /Olga Bogacheva - BELTA/. In Vitebsk, 115 homeless people were examined for tuberculosis over two days, Pavel Gredeľ, head of the organizational and methodological office of the Vitebsk Regional Clinical Tuberculosis Dispensary, told a BELTA correspondent. The event to provide assistance to the homeless was held on March 25-26 by the dispensary staff in cooperation with representatives of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee and volunteers of the Red Cross as part of the "White Chamomile" campaign. Of the 115 examined, 11 showed changes in their lungs with suspected tuberculosis. These individuals have been put under observation as they require anti-inflammatory treatment, the source noted. In addition to medical examinations, people without a fixed place of residence were given the opportunity to wash and change clothes. They also received clothing and food rations. The significance of the "White Chamomile" campaign was also confirmed by the results of express fluorography, which residents of Belarus could undergo for free on March 24. In Vitebsk, about 100 people took advantage of the opportunity to check the condition of their lungs. According to the fluorography results, one of them showed suspected tuberculosis. Doctors will contact this person in the near future to conduct treatment, Pavel Gredeľ added. -0-
