November 26, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. More than 100 benchmark sites have been created in the Vitebsk region during January-September in the Year of the Native Land. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the Committee for Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.
The most large-scale and significant projects were implemented, first of all, in the regional center. For example, during the International Festival of Arts "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk", the Alley of Laureates of the Special Prize of the President of Belarus "Through Art - to Peace and Mutual Understanding" was solemnly opened in the city. A new recreation area on the Vitba River, Suvorov pedestrian street, and Victory Square have also acquired the status of benchmark sites.
The committee noted that in total, based on the results of 9 months, a significant amount of work has been done in the region in various areas. Thus, order has been established in agricultural organizations at more than 1,000 livestock farms and 350 grain cleaning and drying complexes, and machine yards have been improved. 26 unused facilities were demolished at the expense of the farms, and 2.5 thousand hectares of freed land were reclaimed.
Housing and communal services installed more than 14.5 km of fences during this period, comprehensively equipped 113 courtyards, 84 parks, and installed hundreds of new small architectural forms. Together with environmental services, 456 unauthorized landfills were eliminated. The Vitebsk Regional Forestry Association carried out reforestation work on an area of 6.5 thousand hectares, equipped 129 bus stops and adjacent territories, 75 parking lots for vehicles, and 27 sites and recreation areas along roads. In addition, 40 roadside service points were equipped.
Schoolchildren, students, and activists of the BRSM provided significant assistance in putting things in order on the land, improving military graves, and memorable places of the Great Patriotic War. With their participation, a large number of thematic lectures, round tables, cultural events, sports competitions, and tournaments dedicated to the Year of the Native Land were held. -0-
