More than 100 teams will compete in mushroom picking in the Polotsk region

The mushroom ecofest "Visiting Polotsk Lesun - 2019" will be held in the Polotsk district on September 14, reported Elena Astapova, head of the culture department of the district executive committee.

One of the stages of the fest will be the mushroom picking championship. It will start at 7:00 AM and end at noon with the weighing of baskets with forest gifts. More than 100 teams (four people each) will take part in it. Among them are teams from enterprises, state institutions, and public organizations. Winners will be determined in team competitions, individual standings, and in the "Biggest Mushroom" nomination. The prizes will be awarded by Polotsk Lesun, a mythological hero, a fairy-tale "ecologist" who maintains order in the forest.

Part of the celebration will take place at the Center for Tourism, Local Lore and Excursions. Here, guests will find a cultural and entertainment program and district cross-country competitions. Thematic areas will be open. Among them are the mushroom academy and the forest cafe, where they will talk about mushrooms and treat guests to dishes made from forest gifts.
