More than 100 dairy farms will be built in the Vitebsk region in 2011-2015

October 29, Chashniki District / Sergei Kochetov - BELTA /. More than 100 dairy farms will be built in the Vitebsk region in 2011-2015. This was announced by Vladimir Mashero, First Deputy Chairman of the Agricultural Committee of the Regional Executive Committee, at an on-site meeting of the Regional Executive Committee in the Chashniki District, according to a BELTA correspondent. The new high-tech facilities will be designed for more than 120 head of cattle and equipped with milking parlors. It is planned to build the farms according to reusable designs recommended by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, with an estimated cost of about Br20 billion. In parallel with new construction, more than 120 existing farms will be overhauled and equipped with modern equipment during the five-year period. Starting from 2012, the region should seek opportunities to build 1-2 new farms in each district annually, is convinced Alexander Kosinets, Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee. At the same time, specialized regional enterprises should be ready to fully provide construction materials for future construction projects. New farms should be built, where possible, on the sites of old similar buildings, where there are access roads, water towers, and other infrastructure. "The Vitebsk region must have a highly efficient dairy herd and strive to achieve annual milk yields of at least 5 tons per cow in the near future," the head of the region set the task. In 2010, 21 new farms were commissioned in the region, for the construction of which about Br470 billion was allocated. -0-
