More than 100 journalists are accredited for the Day of Writing in Polotsk
On the Day of Belarusian Written Language in Polotsk, three holidays will be united – the 500th anniversary of Belarusian book printing, the 1155th anniversary of the city, and the Day of Written Language itself. The holiday will last from September 1 to 3. A press center will be equipped in Polotsk for the prompt work of media representatives.
The organizers have no doubt that there will be enough interesting topics for journalists. The three-day celebration program is packed with various events. Delegations of writers, publishers, and cultural figures from 12 countries are expected in Polotsk. An international round table of Belarusian and foreign writers will be held, the National Literary Prize will be awarded, a book and press festival will take place, and conferences and exhibitions will be organized.
By the way, one of these is the result of the unique art project "Three Sofias," organized by the Interstate Foundation for Humanitarian Cooperation of the CIS Member States (IFHC). Artists from Belarus, Russia, and Ukraine will capture the Saint Sophia Cathedrals in Veliky Novgorod (Russia), Polotsk (Belarus), and Kyiv (Ukraine) on their canvases during joint plein airs. The Day of Belarusian Written Language will be solemnly opened on September 2 to the ringing of bells from all churches of the ancient city.
