Более 130 высокотехнологичных видов медицинской помощи оказывается в Витебской области

More than 130 types of high-tech medical care have been introduced into practical healthcare in the Vitebsk region, the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's Healthcare Department informed a BELTA correspondent.

The list of high-tech types of medical care provided in healthcare institutions of the Vitebsk region using complex and unique technologies is constantly growing. Currently, more than 130 types of high-tech medical care have been introduced into practical healthcare, 34 of which are used in providing medical care to children.

For example, minimally invasive surgical interventions, including correction of heart valve pathology, have been initiated in the cardiosurgical department of the Vitebsk Regional Clinical Hospital. Reconstructive surgery on arteries of any localization, endovascular operations for the correction of congenital heart defects, implantation of pacemakers, and radiofrequency methods for treating heart rhythm disorders have become common practice. The clinic's angiography room, equipped with modern equipment, allows for timely intravascular treatment methods for patients with acute coronary syndrome, including coronary stenting. This method is minimally invasive, has virtually no complications, prevents myocardial infarction, and allows a person to return to normal life in a short period. A new modern gamma camera is used for radioisotope diagnostics to study the functional state and structure of human organs and systems. Radiodiagnostics helps not only to diagnose and determine the extent of the pathological process but also to assess the functional state and, importantly, the reserve capabilities of organs and systems.

The Vitebsk Regional Clinical Oncological Dispensary has installed and is effectively using a linear electron accelerator, a computed tomography scanner, and a magnetic resonance imaging apparatus, which have enabled the implementation of the latest technologies in diagnostics and radiation therapy. This allows for the treatment of cancer patients in the early stages and improves the quality of life for advanced cancer patients after radiation therapy.

Laser technologies have confidently entered the practical medicine of the Vitebsk region. Today, the most advanced method for surgical treatment of proctological diseases and varicose veins of the lower extremities has been implemented and mastered at the Second Vitebsk Regional Clinical Hospital. The Vitebsk Regional Clinical Maternity Hospital has equipped its neonatal intensive care and resuscitation unit for newborns with modern, high-tech equipment to provide effective, comprehensive, and timely medical care to newborns. The unit has high-class artificial lung ventilation machines and hemodynamic monitors that allow for prompt and reliable information on changes in the condition of newborns. Hearing tests are conducted in the unit for newborns using otoacoustic emission with a modern, precise GSI-audioscreener device.

As noted by the department, modern medical care is provided not only by regional medical institutions but also by those operating in the periphery. For example, the Novopolotsk Central City Hospital has mastered the performance of osteosynthesis with an angular stability plate. The material and technical base of diagnostic centers and inter-district pulmonology departments is being strengthened.

All of this allows for the provision of modern medical care not only to residents of the region but also to foreign patients. In 2012, healthcare service exports doubled compared to 2011. Extrabudgetary income for medical professionals, including funds earned from exports, accounted for almost a tenth of the budget financing. In 2013, the region's medical professionals are tasked with increasing service exports by 1.5 times.
