More than 140 ecologists from all regions of Belarus are taking part in the forum at the Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve
July 10, Minsk / Yulia Vanina - BELTA /. The forum of public environmental organizations opened today in the Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve. As Olga Satsuk, information manager of the "Green Network" environmental association, told a BELTA correspondent, the event was attended by over 140 representatives of public organizations, as well as employees of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus, the Union of Entrepreneurs, the Norwegian Society for the Conservation of Nature, the International Sakharov Environmental Institute, and educational institutions. The forum will last until July 12.
Olga Satsuk noted that the last such large-scale meeting of representatives of environmental organizations took place 7 years ago. The forum should become a good platform for sharing the experience gained since then and discussing the most pressing environmental issues. The participants' position will be reflected in the resolution adopted following the meeting. Opportunities to strengthen the influence of public organizations on solving environmental problems in Belarus will be discussed. Environmentalists will develop a consolidated decision on such pressing issues as climate change and energy, biodiversity conservation, sustainable production and consumption, education for sustainable development, and chemicals and waste.
The event was organized by: "Aхова птушак Бацькаўшчыны" (Association for the Conservation of Birds of Belarus), the International Humanitarian and Educational Foundation "Living Partnership", the "Green Network" environmental association, the Center for Environmental Solutions, the "Ecodom" public association, and the International Public Association "Ecoproject "Partnership". -0-
