More than 15% of rural residents in the Vitebsk region systematically engage in physical culture

October 21, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. More than 15% of rural residents in the Vitebsk region systematically engage in physical culture and sports, the first deputy head of the department of physical culture, sports and tourism of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Petr Nemenyonok, told a BELTA correspondent. According to the interlocutor, the growth of interest in physical culture was facilitated by the creation of conditions for amateur sports, primarily in agro-towns. Over the last four and a half years alone, 2 stadiums, more than 60 football fields, and over 200 gyms and sports grounds have been reconstructed in agro-towns. Almost Br24 billion was allocated for capital and current repairs of sports facilities. An important factor contributing to the increase in the number of participants was the growth in the number of physical culture specialists in agro-towns. Currently, 663 coaches-teachers, instructors-methodologists of sports and recreation clubs and centers work in rural areas. 55 physical culture and sports specialists work in agricultural enterprises. Every year, district and regional competitions in ice hockey, volleyball, and football among rural children and adolescents "Kolosok", winter and summer sports games in eight sports among villagers, and football competitions among rural residents "Zolotoy Kolos" are held in the region. -0-
