More than 170 people were affected by flooding in the Vitebsk region over the past day, Marina Fando, press secretary of the Vitebsk Regional Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, told a BELTA correspondent. Due to a sharp warming and rain on March 21, heavy snowmelt began. As a result, 26 residential buildings, 43 basements in residential buildings, 59 farmsteads, and 58 outbuildings were flooded. The largest number of calls were recorded in Vitebsk, Postavy, Sharkovshchina, Miory, Glubokoye, and Lepel. The total area of flooding was 15 hectares. Employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, utility and other services had to pump out water, and clear storm sewers and drainage ditches. About 200 people, including almost fifty employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, were involved in eliminating the flooding, with 71 units of equipment deployed, including 22 vehicles from the Ministry of Emergency Situations. -0-
