In January-August, 115 thousand sq.m. of housing were commissioned in the regional center. To fulfill the main task, it remains to build 95 thousand sq.m. of housing. However, the regional leadership has set a more ambitious task for the city: to double the volume of housing construction compared to 2008. Last year, 182.8 thousand sq.m. were commissioned. In order to achieve the set goal, the Vitebsk House-Building Combine (Vitebsk DSK) is reconstructing the large-panel house-building plant, is building frame and brick houses, and is mastering a new type of construction for itself - housing made of metal frame. In addition to DSK, 9 more trusts and companies are engaged in housing construction, including the firm "Vitebskenerhostroy" and the repair and construction department of the "Vityaz" enterprise. In addition, in addition to domestic contractors, the city executive committee is considering the issue of inviting foreign builders. The price per square meter of housing in Vitebsk in a house of standard consumer qualities is about Br1.8 million.
