More than 19,000 residents of the Vitebsk region have been vaccinated against seasonal flu

November 3, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. More than 19 thousand residents of the Vitebsk region have been vaccinated against seasonal flu as of November 2, Deputy Chief Physician of the Vitebsk Regional Center for Hygiene, Epidemiology and Public Health Alexey Adeev told a BELTA correspondent. The vaccination campaign will continue this week, with children being vaccinated first, as they are most susceptible to seasonal respiratory infections. As of November 1, 409 people in the region have been diagnosed with "flu" and "respiratory and adenovirus infections," including 203 children. 60 people, including 39 children, have been hospitalized due to severe illness. According to Alexey Adeev, the epidemic threshold for acute viral respiratory infections and flu has not been exceeded in any of the four control cities - Vitebsk, Polotsk, Novopolotsk, and Orsha. All general education schools in the region are operating, but daily monitoring of attendance is being carried out. If more than a third of students are absent due to illness, the school, in conjunction with sanitary services, may initiate quarantine measures. Deputy General Director of the Republican Unitary Trade and Production Enterprise "Pharmatsiya" Tatyana Baray reported that pharmacies and warehouses of the enterprise in the region are conducting daily monitoring of the availability of preventive and symptomatic drugs used for colds. Pharmacies are also sufficiently supplied with gauze masks and gauze fabrics. -0-
