More than 2 million trees planted in Vitebsk region as part of the Forest Week

More than 3,000 residents of the Vitebsk region took part in the voluntary campaign "Forest Week-2016", held from April 2 to 9, with 2.5 million young trees planted on an area of one thousand hectares. This was reported by leading forest restoration engineer of Vitebsk State Forestry Association Alexey Kitašev.

This year, the Ministry of Forestry dedicated the campaign to the 30th anniversary of the Chernobyl NPP accident. For many years, people of different ages and professions have traditionally participated in "Forest Week". Foresters receive active support from schoolchildren, students, representatives of public organizations, enterprises and institutions. They are given the opportunity to gain practical knowledge of the work of foresters and to participate in solving problems of preserving national wealth.

During the campaign, 42 thousand spruce and pine seedlings from the nursery of the Vitebsk forestry enterprise also changed their location. By the way, on 12 hectares, larch, oak, birch, thuja, juniper, and chestnut are also grown here. The nursery master monitors the plantations.

She chose her profession consciously because she enjoys taking care of the forest and watching it grow. During her practical training and her short independent work experience, Inna Efimova has planted tens of thousands of seedlings with her own hands. This year, the young specialist intends to continue her studies at BSTU to improve her professional skills and gain a deeper understanding of the forest's secrets.
