More than 2,000 harvesters will enter the fields of the Vitebsk region during the harvest season
July 24, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. More than 2,000 units of grain harvesting equipment will be deployed in the fields of the Vitebsk region during the current harvest campaign, said Eduard Demyanov, acting chairman of the regional executive committee's agriculture and food committee, at a meeting of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, according to a BELTA correspondent.
The readiness of the equipment is currently 90%. The new equipment produced by the Minsk Tractor Works and Gomselmash causes particular concern among farm managers. According to Eduard Demyanov, if previously farms received one or two combines or tractors, and their break-in was not difficult, then this year, when the fleet has been replenished with hundreds of units of equipment, it is very difficult for farms to carry out their preparation on their own.
The seasonal load per combine is estimated at 266 hectares. In August, at the peak of harvesting, one combine will have to process about 10 hectares per day. Thus, the speed of harvesting and the preservation of the crop will largely depend on the readiness of the equipment, he concluded.
Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Alexander Kosinets demanded that farms complete the preparation of equipment within the next few days and purchase spare parts. Special attention should be paid to ensuring labor protection requirements and creating good social and living conditions for people involved in harvesting, Alexander Kosinets emphasized. The regional executive committee has allocated Br64 billion for the purchase of diesel fuel.
The region is to harvest grain from 355,000 hectares. According to specialists' estimates, the biological yield of grain is estimated at 1.4 million tons in bunker weight, with an average yield of 34 centners per hectare. The established warm weather gives hope that the mass harvesting in the region will begin in 5-7 days. -0-
