May 13, Vitebsk / Sergey Kotovets - BELTA/. The NOC representative office in the Vitebsk region has established 36 prizes for the winners and prize-winners of the athletics race on May 15, which will open the events dedicated to the International Olympic Day in the regional center. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the executive director of the representative office, Viktor Bynkov. According to preliminary estimates, about 2,000 people will start the 1.2 km race, which runs along Pobedy Avenue. A total of 12 races will be organized in various age categories. In addition to cups with commemorative engravings for the prize-winners, all participants of the race will receive certificates from the NOC of Belarus. Then, everyone interested will be able to join the city cultural and sports festival organized in the area of the "Pervomaysky" cultural and business center. The main event of the festival will be the opening of the exhibition of works and the awarding of the winners of the regional competition "Vitebsk Region Olympic". This competition among schoolchildren of the region is organized for the first time this year by the regional representative office of the NOC and will be held permanently in the years of the Olympic Games, noted Viktor Bynkov. More than 200 works were submitted for the competition in three nominations: "Literary Creativity", "Graphics", "Fine and Decorative and Applied Arts". The jury will evaluate the creative understanding of the ideals of the Olympic movement by the younger generation and award the best works in two age categories. As part of the celebration of the International Olympic Day, the NOC representative office will open an Olympic corner at Gymnasium No. 1 in the Vitebsk region. This educational institution presented the best Olympic corner project at the competition among rural general education institutions, so all work on its implementation is carried out at the expense of the regional representative office of the NOC. The opening of Olympic corners in educational institutions is envisaged by the regional program for the development of Olympic education for 2010-2012. The final chord of the celebration in the regional center will be a concert, during which veterans of sports will be honored and prize-winners of various Olympic events in the city will be awarded. Mass sports festivals under the Olympic slogan "Faster! Higher! Stronger!" will be held in all districts of the Vitebsk region. -0-
