Over 200 unemployed people with disabilities employed in the Vitebsk region in the first half of the year

Over 200 unemployed disabled people have been employed in the Vitebsk region in the first half of the year, including 106 people under the established quota, the labor, employment and social protection committee of the Vitebsk regional executive committee informed a BELTA correspondent. Under the state program for promoting employment of the population, 5 new specialized workplaces for disabled people were created in January-June. 22 unemployed disabled people underwent adaptation to work activities (48.9% of the annual target, the growth rate compared to the same period last year was 110%) in 19 organizations with compensation payments to employers for labor costs, purchase of materials and workwear in the amount of Br200 million from the funds of the Social Protection Fund of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection. Adaptation to work activities was carried out in such specialties as legal counsel, accountant, computer operator, shoemaker, watchman, security guard, repair and clothing maintenance worker, etc. Also, in January-June, vocational training was organized for 38 unemployed disabled people. The latter received specialties such as warehouse keeper, hairdresser, plumber, etc. Within the framework of the regional program "Prevention of Disability and Rehabilitation of Disabled People" in the Vitebsk region, in the first half of the year, over 400 people were provided with technical means of social rehabilitation. 404 wheelchairs were issued, as well as over 440 various rehabilitation devices and assistive technology for the visually impaired, worth Br3.6 billion. State targeted social assistance in the amount of Br1.1 billion was directed to pay for technical means of social rehabilitation for 789 disabled people of group III and children in need of them for medical reasons. On the basis of the Vitebsk residential institution for the elderly and disabled, 58 disabled people with musculoskeletal disorders and 89 with visual impairments underwent a social rehabilitation course this year. For visually impaired people, libraries in the region have a special fund of 11 thousand copies of audio literature. From January to June, it was replenished with 360 new copies. Extensive work is being carried out with disabled people in other areas. In particular, with the participation of amateur groups of public organizations of disabled people, over 70 cultural and mass events were organized, and 30 sports and mass events were held, including 8 at the regional level. For people in this category, 5 health centers and 22 sports clubs have been created in the region, where about 1.3 thousand disabled people actively engage in physical culture and sports. In total, as of July 1, 53 thousand disabled people were registered in the region, including 2.8 thousand children. -0-
