More than 200 delegates from all regions of the Vitebsk region gathered at the BRSM conference "Time Chose Us"
The meeting was attended by honored guests: Anatoly Linevich, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Belarus – Inspector for the Vitebsk Oblast; Vladimir Penin, Deputy Chairman of the Oblast Executive Committee; Marina Novitskaya, Head of the Main Department of Ideological Work and Youth Affairs of the Oblast Executive Committee; Viktor Glushin, Deputy Chairman of the City Executive Committee; Alexandra Goncharova, Secretary of the Central Committee of the BRSM, and others.
At the conference, the results of work for the period since 2017 were summarized, and goals and plans for the future were outlined.
— Youth is the support and backbone of the state, it is a creative movement forward, — noted Anatoly Linevich. — It should be noted that over the past five years, the BRSM, including the Vitebsk Regional Committee, has implemented many in-demand and promising projects. Representatives of the Youth Council under the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus come up with interesting initiatives. We, the older comrades of the youth, have an important task – to wisely direct the inexhaustible energy of young men and women into the right channel, to listen to them.
Indeed, in recent years, the representatives of the union youth of Vitebsk region, which numbers over 42 thousand people, have something to be proud of. For example, victories in the republican competitions and projects "Student of the Year," "Queen of Student Life," "Master of the Village," "Volunteer of the Year – Kind Heart," "100 Ideas for Belarus," "BRSM Internet Award," and others.
As noted by Vladimir Babichev, First Secretary of the Vitebsk Regional Committee of the BRSM, the organization has seven main areas of work.
In conjunction with authorities, state and public organizations, the "Memory Train" projects are being implemented as part of the republican patriotic project "Flowers of the Great Victory," the "Memory Autotrain" patriotic marathon, intellectual game tournaments, competitions for the best primary organization and territorial committee, asset spartakiads, water hikes, and off-arena laser tag championships.
— We successfully implemented forums for working youth in Polotsk at JSC "Polotsk-Steкловолокно," at enterprises in Vitebsk, Lepel, Postavy, Beshenkovichi districts, and for rural youth in Polotsk district, — noted Vladimir Gennadievich. — This year, the regional student Maslenitsa was held for the first time at the cultural and historical complex "Golden Ring of the city of Vitebsk 'Dvina'." The festive event began with an open dialogue "Belarus: Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow" with the participation of students from higher education institutions of the region and invited experts.
In April, the city competition among students of all higher education institutions of the region, STUD.SPORT, was held for the first time.
The Vitebsk regional organization has been implementing its own project "Tydzen z vyshyvankay" for two years. Within its framework, territorial committees and primary organizations held events in anticipation of the Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus. The project "Rodnaye slova," aimed at popularizing the Belarusian language, "Vyaselle u vyshyvanku," "Art-relay," whose participants depicted elements of Belarusian ornament in various techniques, and the competition "Selfie-photo with vyshyvanka" turned out to be with national flavor. During the campaign "Padary nemaulyatsi vyshyvanku," congratulations were organized for 92 children throughout the region.
The results of the International Intellectual Business Game "Young Farmer" were pleasing. It brought together about 200 young people from Russia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Germany, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan – 34 teams. Out of ten finalist teams representing Belarus, the team from Glubokoye State Vocational Lyceum won in the category "Teams of students of agricultural vocational educational institutions" with the project "Blueberry – a berry that prolongs life".
Youth law enforcement units continue their work. 73 such units have been established in the region, involving over 1000 young people. The best participants of the youth law enforcement units receive recommendations from the Central Committee of the BRSM for admission to educational institutions of law enforcement agencies and for undergoing compulsory service. This year, 36 people have already received them.
Representatives from the Vitebsk region are actively participating in the BRSM republican project "100 Ideas for Belarus". Over the past two years, 7 projects from our region have taken first place in the final of this competition. Two of them have received the opportunity for commercialization: the developments "Lyalka.BY" and "Multifunctional Cane".
The student team movement is one of the hallmarks of the regional organization of the BRSM. From 2017 to 2020, 19,000 young people were employed in teams and individually. Based on the results of the work semesters, the construction team "Eureka" of Polotsk State University, which worked on the All-Belarusian Youth Construction Project, was recognized as the best and awarded the challenge banner for the best student team.
There are 331 volunteer units of the BRSM's "Kind Heart" movement operating in the region, with a total number of over 5,500 people. Based on the results of the annual republican competitions "Volunteer of the Year" and "Youth for Clean Cities and Villages", representatives from the Vitebsk region have won 36 awards.
The regional organization of the BRSM has signed agreements with the Smolensk, Pskov, and Kaliningrad regional organizations of the Russian Youth Union, and an agreement on cooperation with the Rostov public organization "Don Youth Union".
In April, a forum of young leaders of the border regions of Belarus and Russia was held in Dubrovno. In June, representatives of the Vitebsk regional organization of the BRSM took part in the youth patriotic forum "We Remember" in Pskov.
