More than 200 silage trenches will be built in the Vitebsk region in 2019
Plans for the construction of silage and haylage trenches for 2019 in the Vitebsk region must be fully implemented. This was stated today by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Nikolai Sherstnev, at a regional seminar on livestock, organization of preparation and conduct of spring field work.
"In total, in the region's farms, it is planned to build more than 200 silage and haylage trenches this year. The plans for the construction of such trenches must be fully implemented. At the same time, their construction should begin in the spring, and preparations for construction work should start now. Each district executive committee chairman will be individually accountable for each facility," the governor said, addressing the district assets.
Nikolai Sherstnev emphasized the seriousness of this issue and its particular relevance to the region. "This issue is under special control of the head of state, the Committee of State Control, and primarily concerns the Vitebsk region. Only we store more feed in heaps and unsuitable conditions than in other regions of the country," he said.
The head of the region also noted the importance of monitoring the progress of construction and the timely commissioning of modern dairy complexes, which will significantly increase the efficiency of the livestock industry. According to the Deputy Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Boris Efremov, in 2019, it is planned to complete the construction of 9 modern dairy farms in the region (including 4 in the Orsha district) and commission another 4 in stages.
"The commissioning of such facilities significantly affects the situation in the local agricultural sector: an increase in gross milk production and its sales is immediately noted, which also has a positive impact on people's well-being," added Boris Efremov.
