Over 200 construction sites in the Vitebsk region were inspected by state labor inspectors in the first half of the year

July 21, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. Over 200 facilities in the Vitebsk region were inspected by state labor inspectors in January-June of the current year as part of the Year of Safe Labor in Construction, declared in 2011, the first deputy head of the Vitebsk regional department of the State Labor Inspectorate of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, Sergey Anufriev, told a BELTA correspondent.

The monitoring of work organization and safety compliance covered both construction sites being erected in the regions of the oblast and in the regional center. Thus, in Vitebsk, a mobile group inspected working conditions at 12 facilities of construction trust No. 9, 8 facilities of OJSC "Zhilstroy", and 2 facilities of the Vitebsk Rural Construction Combine. The most common violations identified by the mobile group members were the absence of fences at construction sites, design documentation, failure to conduct safety briefings, and admission to hazardous work without proper documentation. Also, construction workers often worked without personal protective equipment - helmets, safety belts, special suits, and protective masks during welding operations.

Information letters have been sent to the relevant departments regarding all identified violations, and these issues have been considered during meetings of city and district executive committees and labor protection commissions.

In addition, in the first quarter, on the initiative of the regional prosecutor's office and the Vitebsk regional department of the State Labor Inspectorate, raids were conducted at construction sites in Orsha, Lepel districts, and the regional center to identify employees of organizations who were at their workplaces in a state of alcoholic intoxication. As a result of the inspection, three employees of Orsha Construction Trust No. 18 were dismissed.

Significant attention was paid in the reporting period to ensuring control over employers' creation of healthy and safe working conditions in organizations of the region's agro-industrial complex. To this end, in January-June, mobile groups in the region inspected 490 agricultural organizations, checked more than 480 dairy farms, repair workshops, mechanical yards, and other facilities, added Sergey Anufriev.-0-
