The Vitebsk region police received more than 2.5 thousand new pieces of information in the "Step Towards" campaign in 2010

More than 2.5 thousand new pieces of information were obtained by police officers of the Vitebsk region in 2010 during the regional campaign "Step Towards". This was announced today at a press conference by the head of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Naydenko. During the campaign, police officers visited citizens' houses and apartments, got acquainted with the population and their opinions on public order protection, and inquired about local hooligans and disturbers of the peace. "Establishing such contacts played a significant role in crime prevention, contributed to an increase in public trust, and also helped to solve more than 50 crimes," stated the head of the Internal Affairs Directorate, adding that during such visits, it was also possible to identify people leading an antisocial lifestyle, "quiet" alcoholics, and previously unknown dysfunctional families. Alexander Naydenko is convinced that the significance of this campaign is obvious, so it will be continued on a permanent basis. -0-
