More than 4,000 pike were released into the water body of the Braslav Lakes National Park
The fish stock was sourced from the "Mekyany" nursery of the national park. Before the lake freezes over, it is planned to release over 6,000 more small pike. In addition, in April this year, "Braslav Lakes" released 1.36 million pike larvae into five bodies of water: Bogdanovskoye, Buzha, Voiso, Drisvyaty, and Strusto.
Pike reach sexual maturity in three to four years. As it is a valuable fish species, a catch limit of 40 cm has been established for both commercial and recreational fishing. Therefore, when catching fish that have not reached 40 cm in length, it is important to release them back into the water alive. Administrative liability is provided for violating this rule. The Braslav Lakes National Park procures the fish stock and conducts stocking using funds from the sale of permits for paid recreational fishing.
