More than 40,000 roses, freesias and other flowers have been prepared by "Zelenkhoz" employees for the women of Vitebsk

Traditionally, live flowers are an integral attribute of March 8, symbolizing spring, feminine tenderness, and beauty. And today, men who decide to congratulate their ladies with a colorful bouquet have a huge choice. In turn, DKUSTP "Zelenkhoz" offers flowers with a Vitebsk "residence permit."

Roses are still in high demand, in a wide variety of lengths and shades. Out of 9900 sq. m of greenhouse land of

"Zelenkhoz" , it occupies almost half. True, for the upcoming March 8, its harvest turned out to be slightly smaller than last year: planting material was replaced in some areas, which will produce its first buds only in May.

Despite the fact that the quantity of their own roses will be slightly reduced, the increased demand for them on the eve of the holiday will be fully satisfied: part of the batch that will enter the company's retail chain will consist of imported flowers. By the way, the enterprise has also purchased tulips, chrysanthemums, carnations, gerberas, lilies, and alstroemerias for sale. At the same time, freesias, which have been cultivated by Vitebsk florists for about 15 years, are not inferior to them.

– This plant is quite capricious and difficult to grow, it requires special conditions and bulb preparation. Almost a year of care is needed for freesia to delight with delicate and fragrant buds for just one month. But despite all this, observing the growing popularity of this flower, we plan to increase its planting volumes next year, – says Nina Yeremenko, First Deputy Director.

Currently, flowers are being cut in the greenhouses and are already available for sale. Potted flowering plants, primroses and hyacinths, are also prepared for sale. As experience shows, the peak sales occur on the eve of everyone's favorite spring holiday. The enterprise has 5 company stores and 2 retail outlets in Vitebsk, whose operating hours will be specially extended during these days.

Deliveries are actively being made according to orders from the city's enterprises and organizations, whose employees also do not miss the opportunity to congratulate the fair half of their team. Thus, about one-third of all products are sold through non-cash payments.

In addition, seedlings are already growing in the greenhouses – about 1.5 million units. They will mainly be used for landscaping the streets of the regional center, and part of them will be used for the improvement of Orsha, Polotsk, and Novopolotsk. Workers of "Zelentkhoz" typically begin planting on city flowerbeds in May, and perennial plants, under favorable weather conditions, can decorate the city streets as early as April. Traditionally, marigolds, coleus, begonias, petunias, and many other plants will be used, from which landscape designers create original patterns each time. A new feature of the upcoming season should be the inscription "Dazhynki-2014" on Leningradskaya Street, which will greet everyone traveling towards Gorodok, where the main republican harvest festival will be held.
