– Today there is a serious personnel problem, not enough specialists, professionals. There will be no development or prospects until we solve this issue ourselves. WorldSkills is one of the options to get highly qualified specialists in the future. Those present in this hall have proven that they are the best of the best. The exhibition prepared by educational institutions, enterprises, and organizations of the Vitebsk region is also impressive, – noted **Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Nikolai Sherstnev** during the awards ceremony for the winners and prize-winners of the regional stage of the competition.
Nikolai Nikolaevich expressed confidence that the most important thing in the competition is to raise the prestige of the working person. With their victory, the young people strengthen not only their own authority but also the status of their chosen profession, their educational institutions, and their city. The head of the region wished the contestants unforgettable impressions and further creative success.
Behind the achievements of the young people are sleepless nights, the ability to pull themselves together and set priorities, and to present themselves. Winners and prize-winners of the competition went on stage one after another to receive their well-deserved awards. Many kind words and congratulations were addressed to them.
– I have gone from a locksmith to a CEO. You have confidently taken a step in your career and proven your skills. And remember, to become a good director, you need to be a good locksmith, – said Vladimir Turavinov, Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Employers' Union, member of the competition's organizing committee.
The WorldSkills competition is a kind of Olympic Games for young specialists in blue-collar professions. Our country joined the international movement in 2014. This has given Belarusian youth the opportunity to participate in international professional skills championships.
New challenges lie ahead for our compatriots. Based on their results, students will be selected to represent Belarus at the world championship in 2019 in Kazan. We are confident that the main results are yet to come. We wish the guys good luck!
