From January 20 to March 20, preventive campaigns to prevent fires in housing are being conducted in the Vitebsk region. Ministry of Emergency Situations employees inspect households and apartments of citizens, and conduct explanatory work among the population. Last weekend (February 9-10), employees of the regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations carried out a centralized inspection of the housing stock with the involvement of all prevention entities in the Beshenkovichi and Vitebsk districts.

In total, within the framework of the campaign since January 20, 723 employees of the region's emergency services and units participated in inspections of the housing stock on weekends. 5.4 thousand households were inspected, including about 3.7 thousand - categorized citizens, of which 2.6 thousand are large families and families raising young children. 9.6 thousand citizens were instructed on fire safety rules. 604 problematic households with violations of fire safety requirements were identified. Based on the results of the raids, 385 administrative protocols were drawn up, and the operation of 11 stoves and 6 sections of electrical wiring was suspended in the households.

In addition, during visits to citizens, 19 cases of alcohol abuse, 8 cases of improper childcare, and 7 cases of the need to send elderly citizens to social institutions were identified. Information has been sent to the relevant departments for all the above-mentioned cases to take response measures.

"Fire safety measures are incorporated into the country's current state programs and include the installation of autonomous fire alarms, and assistance with the repair of stoves and electrical wiring in the homes of large families and low-income citizens. The Ministry of Emergency Situations is carrying out a number of measures, but until every citizen feels responsible for complying with fire safety rules, the rescuers' reports will continue to be updated with new victims," the department emphasized. The regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations appeals to the residents of the region with a request to take all measures to bring their households into a fire-safe condition. "Remember that the cost of funds spent for these purposes is incomparable with the price of the consequences that a fire leads to," the Ministry of Emergency Situations noted.
