More than 5,000 student brigade members from the Vitebsk region are planned to be employed this year
This year, the regional headquarters has more optimistic forecasts for the participation of students from secondary vocational schools and universities in the student detachment movement than last year. "We plan to form at least 250 student detachments and employ over 5,000 individuals. In 2020, the pandemic hindered student construction workers, and young people worked within the country. This year, detachments have already been formed to work abroad – at the All-Russian Children's Center, better known as the summer camp 'Orlyonok', in the Krasnodar Krai," said the commissioner of the regional headquarters.
Irina Alyushina explained that the Russian side will cover the costs of PCR tests conducted on-site. Currently, out of those who applied for employment, 90 people have been selected for service detachments and 14 for pedagogical detachments. Detachments will continue to be formed and individuals will be recruited to work at the renowned children's camp until May. Belarusian student construction workers will work at "Orlyonok" from May to August.
Additionally, student construction workers from universities and secondary vocational schools in the region will carry out road repair work on the M1 highway. Two student detachments from PSU will travel to the All-Belarusian Youth Construction Project at the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant from June to August. Approximately 100 people will work at CJSC "Atlant". "Last year, the largest Belarusian home appliance manufacturer hosted our young people for summer employment for the first time, and both sides appreciated this form of cooperation. This year, we will form one detachment of about 20 people from each of the five universities in the region. Medical students are also eager to work at 'Atlant': the company offers good salaries and a rich leisure program. Student construction workers will have access to the gym and swimming pool, and the factory also covers accommodation in the dormitory," said Irina Alyushina.
This year, the directions of student teams remain largely the same as before: agricultural, industrial, construction, pedagogical, medical, and service. A new addition will be an archaeological student team from PSU, which will be involved in repair work at the Polotsk Cadet School.
In the regions of the oblast, schoolchildren aged 14 and older will also be individually employed for the summer period. The regional labor headquarters have been tasked with finding common ground not only with school principals, who can involve teenagers in the repair of educational institutions, but also with local enterprises. Forestry enterprises in the oblast have expressed their readiness to accept schoolchildren for simple forestry work. Additional labor reserves will be needed by farms for berry picking and weeding. Contacts should also be established with other enterprises that could provide jobs for young people who wish to spend their summer beneficially for themselves and their homeland.
