More than 50 people took part in the city's open sports event for people with disabilities in Vitebsk
According to Eduard Avetisyan, Chairman of the Board of the Vitebsk City and Regional Organizations of the Belarusian Society of Disabled Persons, the tradition of holding the sports event originated five years ago, and the number of participants is constantly growing. For the second year, a children's team has also been participating.
- The competitions allow not only to demonstrate one's sports abilities but also to meet and communicate, - noted Vladimir Terentyev, Chairman of the Regional Council of Deputies, welcoming the participants of the sports event. - It is wonderful that not only representatives of the regional center but also from Polotsk, Novopolotsk, Orsha, Senno, Liozno, and Vitebsk district have come to the competitions.
Vladimir Terentyev stated that the Vitebsk branch of Belarusian Railways plans to transfer its health and sports complex to the city, where there will be a place for people with disabilities.
The sports event included eleven sports and contests. Among them were table tennis, checkers, boccia, darts, and wheelchair maneuvering.
The sports and recreation club "Vitebsk" provided assistance in organizing the competitions. The regional organization of the RPO "Belaya Rus" presented sweet gifts to the children.
