More than 500 recruits of the 103rd Airborne Brigade took the oath in Vitebsk

Более 500 новобранцев 103-й воздушно-десантной бригады приняли присягу в Витебске
By tradition, more than 500 recruits of the 103rd Vitebsk Separate Guards Airborne Brigade took the Military Oath on Victory Square at the Memorial Complex in honor of the Soviet soldiers-liberators, partisans and underground fighters of the Vitebsk region.

The Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies, Vladimir Terentyev, noted that taking the oath is a very important event in the life of a young man, his parents, relatives, and friends.

– The world is not calm today. Undoubtedly, the security of our Motherland depends, in part, on these guys who have just come to serve. I am confident that these young men will grow into real soldiers who will defend the Fatherland if necessary. I wish the recruits and their families peace, health, and good luck, – said Vladimir Terentyev.

Parents, relatives, and friends were present near the formation. A total of about 1500 people. For each of them, this day will be remembered forever. Among those who could not hold back their emotions was Galina Metla, who came to support her son Vyacheslav.

– Slava graduated from the Power Engineering Faculty of BNTU, – Galina Metla told reporters. – My son is my right hand, my support. He always makes his own decisions. What do I feel now? Pride that Slava serves in the Airborne Forces. In our family, on my mother's side, there are only girls, and our father served in the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Minsk.

Vyacheslav Metla admitted that he had wanted to serve in the army since childhood to become even more courageous and independent.

– I had been living alone in Minsk for four years while studying at university, – admitted the recruit. – And here I happily sewed chevrons – I did it excellently, and helped my comrades with it. I like the service. I am convinced that every self-respecting man should pay his debt to the Fatherland and always be ready to defend his Motherland.

Deputy Brigade Commander Vadim Bobilevich emphasized that the servicemen joining the army ranks are becoming more and more prepared each year. According to him, this applies to both physical fitness and moral state.

– Today, new recruits of our brigade are taking the Military Oath. In the month that the recruits have spent at the unit, they have learned to pack parachutes, fire an assault rifle, completed a basic military training course, and today they are ready to become full-fledged defenders of our Motherland, – noted Vadim Bobilevich.

Brigade Commander, Guards Colonel Vladimir Safonov, addressing the soldiers, said that the young men are taking on the responsibility to the people and the Fatherland to perform their military duty with dignity and courage, to defend the independence, territorial integrity, and constitutional order of the country.

After the ceremony, the recruits were granted a day's leave and a long-awaited meeting with their families.
